Post some pictures when you get it. Some like aftermarket warranties and some don’t but it’s something to consider.

The brakes and rotors could fail at any time? If they haven’t ever been changed at a quarter million miles, then no sh*t. As previously mentioned in this thread, that’s a consumable part. As far as the transmissions, I’ll take my chances with the 6L80e over the 4L60e, or worse, the 700r4, any day of the week and twice on Sunday. GM truck transmissions have come a long way but still aren’t perfect by any means.

Forget that ‘mechanic’, his “take” is hot trash. 59 zillion of these trucks on the road, just like any other vehicle, there are problems, premature failures, etc., yes.. but if she takes good care of her truck the way you say she does and she’s not experiencing any issues, keep trucking.
Is the 4L60e really that bad of a transmission?

Anybody know of a decent warranty company worth recommending? As I’m getting older I can’t get into spots and lift like I once did. Considering a warranty when I purchase my next new to me driver. Buying a newer car and having to spend 4-6k on a transmission or cam shaft swap is really tough on a budget.

If you buy from a dealer they’ll have options that are generally pretty reliable. They don’t like selling junk. A good option is a certified pre-owned as they generally have extended warranty included. Aside from that Endurance gets pretty good reviews. Remember that you can choose what you want covered.

I bought a 2020 LS 5.3 2WD new and it hasn't had a single issue to date. Plenty of talk about AFM issues but I haven't seen a single article about what percent of these fail (though I have been told its probably around 5% failure rate). I might be there one day but Im just going to keep the oil changed every 5k and fingers crossed. I have to add the AFM does give this rig great mileage on the highway for a vehicle its size. Its a great vehicle for me, the right size with the right amount of tech without all the baloney I don't need. Probably the last key start vehicle on the road!
