Does GM ever alter an order on their own?

If I re-order, is it true that GM simply won't pickup the order if the steps aren't available, not change the order itself?

any option that is either unavailable or selectively available would be on GM's constraint list....if the option is completely constrained, then yes...it won't be accepted unless the order is modified. the dealer can put the order in but it won't go anywhere...

If the option is only constrained a certain %, then your dealer would have to receive an allocation to order a vehicle with that option...this will be vehicle and trim specific...if your dealer receives an allocation for a Yukon, they'd also have to receive a Denali allocation and also a power steps allocation. if the power steps aren't on constraint, then they just need to receive a Yukon and Denali allocation
