My Tahoe wouldn't start. It would crank, but not start or crank, and then signal "low engine power" in the display.

Replaced ignition switch, didn't fix it.

Pulled fuse 5 in the underhood junction box, cleaned up the fuse plug and the fuse legs and problem solved.

Except now, I am concerned the box is in an advanced state of corrosion and want to replace the box. BUT, I have found references stating the underhood junction box has to be programmed.

Is that true? Will the vehicle run without the programming so I can install the box and then take it to the dealer for the reprogramming? I have a Carly, will that reprogram it?

Thanks guys,

fuse box does not require any programming, just get the same box and you are good to go
it should go without saying but be sure to disconnect the battery first before replacing the fuse box.

I had to replace mine due to a failed reverse light relay. Took about 5 minutes. Been going for 5 years now.

Normally I would have thought reprogramming a fuse box was a weird question. Having recently read through some Mercedes bulletins and articles about their fuse box / SAM modules, you could really be screwed if one of those went out.
