I've been emailing the same chick [Hailey Johnson] since yesterday about a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. At first I figured it was too good to be true because I checked www.kbb.com and saw that even a private seller with a good condition vehicle, that mileage, etc., would sell it for at least 12K. I don't care how hard up for cash you have to be, you can ALWAYS take it to a dealership or even ask for more money in an ad [if it were legit].

My friend googled the vehicle description and person's name and came upon this forum. I also knew it was a scam because she said the car was going to be shipped from California. Well, I'm in TX and I have plenty family and relatives in California. So I emailed back saying instead of her shipping the vehicle, I can have a relative go and inspect and pick up the vehicle for me. The response I got:

The shipping company only deliver the car, they don't have a customer relations and support office or someone that could receive the money in my place. That's why I would like to close the deal through eBay. If you decide not to go through with it there is no problem. I got quite a few offers left. Please get back to me and let me know what you decide because I don't want to lose them too.

For anyone that's seen this ad on CL or any other place ... please ... Buyer Beware! Don't become a buyer ... I didn't ... glad my buddy did a little research for me.

They always say if it looks too good to be true ... it probably is.

Yes, this is definitely a scam, I just emailed "Hailey Johnson" yesterday regarding her Denali for sale and this is the email I received from her:


Thank you for being interested in buying my 2004 GMC Yukon Denali AWD, automatic transmission, 119 000 miles, VIN : 1GKEK63U94J230710. It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been involved in an accident; the title is clear.

I just got divorced and I decided to move closer to my parents. Right now I'm located in South Carolina. The car was awarded to me in our divorce. Being a single mother and not having a driver's license i decided to sell the car. As I'm unable to travel in the near future and I don't have anyone to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through eBay. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this.

The final price is $2,950 including shipping and delivery to your home address. So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please get back to me as soon as possible.

The shipping arrangements have already been made before moving to Portugal. The car is at the shipping company in New York, ready to go anywhere in the United States. It will arrive with all the papers and documents required for registration and the keys. The clear title and the bill of sale will be already signed by me.
The shipping will be around $500 depending on your location so the final price you will have to pay is $7,000 plus the shipping fees. The payment will be done through eBay.
