Does this sound like a bad bearing in AC COMPR?

Its hard to tell, but it sounds like a bearing in skateboard just grinding on rocks. But its really loud. And when i turn on the ac it seems to get quieter. What is the cheapest way to fix this?

I want to get this fixed soon, its something i have put enough because it was never this loud. I dont want to have it seize and then have the serp belt break. That would suck.

I'd go buy a new serpentine belt anyway, and throw it in with the tire jack/etc. just so you have one. In the video, it didn't look like your compressor pump was turning. If you put a finger or two on the AC compressor pump (obviously stay clear of the belts/pulleys), and have someone turn it on/off, you should be able to feel something loud like that rattling. If it is truly coming from your AC pump, a new one is roughly $200 at schucks, and isn't difficult to do.

A little trick we use for problems like this is take a peice of heater hose or something similar about 18" long put one end to your ear and the other end at each pully (or area) that is possibly noisy and it will really help find out the culprit.

believe it or not doing that with a long screwdriver works too.

same with a dowel or broom stick, orrrrr you could just have one of those stethascopes (sp?) from the parts store and use that, works wonders.

It also removes all doubt with the neighbors that you are bat **** crazy, listening to one end of a screwdriver, stabbing your engine with other end.
