To anyone else that read this thread to a no conclusion....The tech bulletin was for only 2015 if I remember correctly. I have a 2015 and the rear dome lights flashed one time for .5 seconds when you hit the brakes on mine however the tech bulletin mentioned some vehicles would do it with a left turn signal. These were very repeatable symptoms. The replacement front dome lights with switches did the trick for me.
Knowing that the brakes or turn signals can trigger the dome lights means there can be many points to test. The BCM may have been the answer for the OP but the brake lights and turn signals all tie together in the multifunction switch also, among other places. Door trigger switches would most likely trigger a dash warning for an open door when moving.
