my driver side door lock doesn't work at all. power lock doesn't work, the interior door lock doesn't move back or forth and the exterior lock just spins.

I'm in Minnesota and just had a similar problem with my 2006 Yukon. In my case it was the below zero weather. I had to climb in the back doors to first get the passenger's door open then got the driver's door open. When it hit 10 degrees everything started working again. I've seen others with this issue. Some have taken and cleaned and lubed the the locks, knobs, and linkages and some have had to replace worn out lock assemblies. I see your location as NYC. Is this also weather related?

I doubt it's weather related. when I use the key in the door lock. it just turns with no resistance. it appears something is broken inside the door

Sounds like you're going to need to do some further investigating with the door panel removed. There are many linkages held on with plastic clips.

Hopefully it's stuck in the unlock position so you can at least open the door.

pop the door panel off, your gonna find a busted plastic clip on the end of a hanging rod.
