So i'm planning to update my car stereo, as I realize I will have this car, oh, probably until our kids are in college...so around another 18 years :D I'm going back and forth between going full double din with the detailss kit, or just going with a single din. Anyone else go through this debate themselves? The biggest benefit of a double din is the ability to get nav and a touch screen.

Thanks guys,

matt

I ran through this debate with my '98. I'm currently running a single din with pop out screen so that I can still watch DVDs and it is a touch screen. It's a pioneer head unit and does pretty good but with that said I do plan on upgrading to the detailss kit and a double din down the road. That detailss kit was just a little more than I wanted to spend at the time when I was also buying new speakers, carpet, head units and other misc stuff :) not sure if that helps you or not other than to know that if you can go double din now might as well just do it once and be done and not have to upgrade later on down the road.

Alright, I think you have all convinced me. Double Din it is. I'll order the kit here soon, and then be on the look out for the right head unit. I will probably upgrade all the speakers as well, if not immediately, eventually just to get a better sound.

Just do it all at once while it's apart :waytogo: it's well worth it :) those speakers you have in there now are old and are in need of replacing anyway :)

I went with the Pioneer AVH-X7500BT single din with the flip out 7" touch screen. Love it and the reaction I get from friends when I start the truck and the screen flips out.
