hope i'm not repeating a thread but i'm contriplating (spell) wheather i should i get a DD or flip-up. i had an '01 Sierra before i got my '03 Tahoe and i had a flip-up in it but when it opened and closed it either hit or got stuck on my gear shifter when i was in park which isnt a huge issue but it got annoying. i was hoping u guys could help me make a decision or shed some light on your opinions of your experiences with both. i do not have any particular brand or model in mind. also i do have bose and on-star and i was curious as to if i have to have the expensive adapter. i could care less to keep on-star but would like to keep my chime and maybe steering controls but am willing to lose them as well. thanks in advance.

personally, ive never been a fan of the flip up ones. looked cheesy and too aftermarket for my tasts. a nice dash mounted monitor that followed the same lines and style as a stock unit would be much better. but then again, i dont have 30 inch wheels on my car either so what do i know haha.

they're just 26''....lol...but thanks for your input...dnt care if i stay with the stock look or not...eventually everythink will be custom...even thought of moving the head unit down to the console above the cup holders if i got a flip-up.

I had a pioneer flip out and it did the exact same thing in my 01 z71 Tahoe. I left the flip up in the 'up' position and turned off the automatic flip out mode. I eventually replaced my dash with the double din size so I could get a DD screen.

thats a pioneer DD. i love it. but i was also thinking about adding a flip out in that slot above the cup holders. i know i would have to trim the top of it a little to make it fit. not sure what i could use it for. just a thought

I dont have any personal experience with either of these but id say it would look awsome with a DD. Also having an 03 you dont need to do anything custom to fit it into the dash. Hopefully some time in the future i can buy a dd unit but ill have to chop chit up to fit it into the 02 bezel.
