I'm leaning towards making the conversion, but I am concerned about the engine overheating if the e-fans fail to activate for whatever reason...

Is this a valid drawback to this mod?

Only downside is you will need the bigger altenator. 185amp I think. I am getting ready to convert to them too, but I will be getting a 300amp altenator.

I think they say you will be fine with the 135amp... larger is better though

to do the e fan mod other than the actual replacing of parts what do you need to do? thought you had to activate pins in the ecu to get the fans to work

My local stealership told me today that they are unable to simply "turn on" the pins. That they computer was not capable of supporting this. Even after arguing with the guy for 10 minutes AND pointing here to this forum for evidence that is in fact possible.

I had mine BB tuned so not a problem for me. However I spoke with 2 GM dealerships here and they both confirmed that they cannot do it. I spoke with the Service managers at both places. The problem is their scan tool can do it, They just dont know how.

Mine swore up and down that this was impossible to do. Said he called their tech line and no one there had ever heard of it being done and also said this mod was unsupportable with my comp.
