Hi GM Gurus.

might as well introduce myself first, bought my first Tahoe a week ago. been a toyota man all my life, various land cruisers and hiluxes on 37"+

but now i wanted to try something else and always liked the Hoe, so picked up a 2002 LT with 192xxx miles on it. superhappy! comfort and all my kids in the back seat with place to spare!:)

got a serious issue though, whenever on "highway" speeds (50-80mph) i have a small vibration and noise from the front end, slight shake in the steering wheel. wheels are perfectly balanced.

but when engaging 4HI and depress the gas pedal it gets really bad, the whole car vibrates and the noise is terrible.. im thinking UJ/CV?

anyone got any ideas, not lifted. pretty stock car so far. worn out 265/70-16 tires on stock rims.

well, that was a no-brainer.. the U-Joint on the front propshaft at the rear towards the transfer is shot..

while i was under there i noticed some slack in the outgoing shaft to the rear axle on the transfer case, heard a noticable clunk when i moved the shaft up and down.. is the spline worn out or is this normal?

That slack you speak of is pretty normal , you actually might get a "honk" type noise when pulling from a dead stop . Best term I could think of sorry , any ways the sound is pretty normal

You cab always put a new tail shaft bushing and seal in. They are soft and do wear out
