Driver door opening sound

I always thought it was the HVAC outside air door opening? New cars close them after ignition off for a bit to prevent infestations. You will hear a similar noise if you sit in the car with the ignition off for awhile... The outside air door will close.

It’s the air compressor. You have a slow leak in one of your lines.

The clicking noise you hear is indeed the fuel pump cycling on to prime the system. The door triggers a 12/14v signal to activate the fuel pump which will prime the system in about .2 seconds. Heat soak can cause fuel in the rails/lines to vaporize and cause a increase in the crank to start time. This was added in the K2XX program as a customer satisfaction issue with crank to start, and is helpful even more with the push button start. Older systems use "key on" to trigger the pump to prime the system. Hope this helps,
