I must be on the one month replacement plan on these things. My drivers side outboard cv boot keeps constantly tearing and the joint failing. I have no idea why as the passenger side is perfect. The truck has a brand new front suspension (new lower control arms, new upper control arms, new wheel hubs, new tie rods, new front struts, new sway bar bushings and links). Also the front differential was rebuilt as well. The passenger side cv shaft was replaced at a shop as I was in a jam for time and that has at least now 15K miles on it with no issues. The divers side is a store box (advanced auto) cv shaft and keeps blowing out. Can it be an issue with a cheap shaft?

Nothing out of the ordinary or that can be considered excessive. I did forget to mention they I have a Rough Country leveling kit in the front, but that still shouldn't cause excessive angles. I would figure if that was the case, both sides would constantly tear.

Stopped by my driveline shop. Turns out it's el-cheapo store bought shaft is the culprit. My passenger side is an oem remanufactured shaft that has more "flex" in the boot. It has 7 ribs in the boot. The store bought shaft only has 3 ribs in the boot and does not allow as much flexing or angle and the level left is stressing it too much tearing the boot all the time.

I don't have my oe shaft anymore, so I'll be on the hunt for a used oe cv shaft to get rebuilt and swapped out.
