drum brake pulsing -- 99 burb

so I just did a complete job on the rear brakes. first time I did drums. I used a new hardware kit , new adjuster assembly kit, new drums and new shoes. all of it was ac delco professional. I seem to have done it correctly and everything looked ok, but now I notice pulsing when braking at higher speeds. im going to replace front pads as well for good measure , but this condition wasn't there before my rear brake job.
any ideas what I may have to do? I adjusted both sides so there was slight drag on the drums, I made sure I cleaned off the friction surface of the new drums with cleaner. the wheel cylinders were not leaking , but one of the pistion - to - shoe rods was slightly wet where it goes into the rubber seal. pedal is a little mushy , my fluid was low so I think I will have to do a bleed / fluid replacement.

Pulsation felt in steering wheel or pedal? Steering wheel indicates front rotors could use replacing or resurface. Pedal from the drums. Even though it may look clean there could be a unevenness that you can't see. Try replacing or resurface the drums

the drums are brand new. should I try cleaning them again?

Make sure you didn't leave any grease on the shoe surface. I have seen before new drums one rotors that needed to be resurfaced right out of the box. Napa but never dealer items

drums could be warped out of box, depends if that sat upright on a shelf for years.
