When I jack up one front tire should tire spin freely when in park and 2wd. Also when in 2wd should front drive shaft spin freely by hand. Its an 01 tahoe.

but if its a G80, correct me, but the other tire on opposing side would turn counter clockwise.

Well I do not know if its a G80, and I only had one wheel off the ground. This is in park, and 2wd. You can not turn the front drive shaft in same mode both tires on the ground.

Why I was asking is I was checking my front hub for slop went to spin the tire, and it would not spin so I do not know if its normal. Its not stuck in 4wd or anything.

Doing some research i'm kinda getting mixed messages. If both tires are off the ground tires will spin opposite if trying to turn one is one. I guess I never have tried it so I don't know for sure what it is suppose to do

wont in park, and to see, you need both wheels off the ground, one will be counter clockwise.
(If G80 equipped)

So looks like I got the GT4 according to my RPO codes. G80 GT4 these are all rear Diffs

So what kind of wheel/ drive shaft action should I have on the FRONT in park, neutral or what ever

Okay did a little more investigating. If you have the old "autotrac" version (pre 05 IIRC) the front drive shaft is always engaged. So you can not turn it with vehicle in park in 2wd.

So that means in my mind that the front tires should be one spins freely, and one not if both front tires are off the ground unless its the G80.

Gordy......... If you have both front tires off the ground , they will both spin freely ( in any direction you want to spin them). when you are in park & 2wd.

Now........the G80 is a "rear " locking differential....... and if you have both rear tires off the ground , "both" tires will spin, But in opposite direction.
