Hi all,

2003 4.8 Tahoe with 145 amp alternator needs replacing. Looking for any experience with the above, looking for a lifetime warranty with local replacement. I have a auto zone and oreillys local. Heard autozone had bad rep but they were older posts.

Auto zone has 20% off so $175 and $27 in core so $150ish.

Oreillys is $165 + &10 core.

Common problem work both of these is the big failure rate. They are private labelled from a wholesale mfg and in some cases, from the same one.

Be prepared to go thru a couple of them before getting one that lasts. That's been my experience, but I don't mind as I can swap them quickly

Went with the duralast gold-new, AZ 1 mile away and $145 after core and coupon vs oreillys $179. Figured both a gamble!
