This might sound dumb, but what are the vent caps used for in the back of our Tahoe's? What purpose do they serve? The reason I'm asking is becuase I'm thinking of getting those vent caps dynamatted....My sub is rattling the vent cap and I want to get rid of it. Anything wrong with sticking some dynamat where the vent caps are?

they vent air (and thus pressure) from the cabin, so things like A/C can work, and the doors can be closed with the windows up.

easy way: Crack a window. turn the box around?

Dynamat Extreme is mostly mass loading. additional mass drops the resonant frequency. IN addition elastomerics convert sound energy to heat, and the aluminum back providse rigidity.

When you say THEY are rattling, do you mean the caps themselves are resonating, merely flexing or that the TRUCK BODY and they are rubbing against each other?

If they are flexing you can put a little dynamat extreme in them, but otherwise I would wonder if hey didn't have some broken tabs or some other mounting problem. I really donlt see you making them flex.

agree with Eagle, if you cover them, your in cabin climate control would be effected.

I capped mine off in my blazer years ago and did the same in the hoe, climate control works great still and no more rattle from the corners
