First off, this is not a 1 hour job, 2nd my pins were turned on and set up by Justin. That being said I finally got around to installing the e-fans, unfortunately I didn't have a strap wrench to get the clutch fan off so I said screw it and put the efans in anyway. Im going out after this to get a strap wrench. My delema is that the a/c fan kicked on as it was supposed to, the other fan did not, is it because the clutch fan is doing the job and the computer doesnt sense the temp to kick on the e fan. Both fans worked prior to install.

Get your clutch fan off and report back!

Glad you have them in.

they are nice to have, so much better looking and more room in the engine compartment!

I installed Efans on my 04 silverado, Used a Nelson harness, it was plug and play, turned out nice! I also had to change the radiator, i forget but there are two different widths.

My second fan rarely kicks on but when it does the a/c gets about 10° colder. I believe all of these suvs have the 34" radiator necessary for the 05+ oem efans.

Every time the a/c clutch would engage, the fan would kick on, its the other fan I'm concerned with, I got the strap wrench from sears this evening and a 24mm socket to swap out the alt pulley. So tomorrow Ill finish up, maybe it was for the best, I forgot my camera when I went to go work on it today.

Get the clutch fan off of there. Remember it is cold where you are. The benefit of the fans is that they only kick on when they need to (ie. temp is too high).

Thanks, Looking for a better strap wrench, the one at sears sucked. I cant believe something this simple is becoming such a pain in the ass. Times like this make me wonder if car payments are easier

Try large channel locks.......that's what I used. It's not like your trying to save the clutch fan.....get rough with it.

Have you tried to take the clutch fan off with the fan belt on the pulley? It worked great for me, just put the belt on, and when you get the wrench on it hit the wrench a couple of times, it loosened mine up pretty easy! For some reason the tension of the fan belt was way easier to loosen up the clutch than a strap wrench!

Do you 00-02 guys have the 4 holes in the pulley? I just modified a piece of scrap metal I had laying around to hold the pulley in place, and I used a big pipe wrench to turn the fan nut.

The nut came loose on the first try, and the best part was that I didn't have to spend $$$ on renting/buying a tool I would probably never use again.
