I have had some issues with my ECM fuse blowing on my HOE. It blows out at exactly 1.7 miles every time. On my way out from the house it blows 1 out of f5 times in the exact same spot. WTF is going on with my electronic control module? It first happend at the beach after a 6 hour trip (if that helps). Could it be my Hypertech CPU mod?

Thanks,
:disgust:

can you give me the exact fuse name and location so i can get you exactly the info of what is on the fuse. the pcm does not have a fuse by itself typically it shares the fuse with other things like a sensor or injectors. for yours there will be 2 fuses under the hood that say ECM but they have an extra digit. B or I.

This is a diagram of the box - the Red one is the one that keeps blowing.

From what I can tell it is shutting power to the Fuel pump.... as soon as I put in a new fuse it starts right up and has no issues. WTF did it twice this week....and the weird thing is it is not every time i go somewhere. Could it be my Hypertech programmer?

that fuse runs powers the injectors, crank sensor, ignition coil , ignition control module and ecm power on sense. what i mean by sense is it tells the pcm to power up for active duty. a tune should not be blowing it. waht size fuse are you putting in it? the fuse blowing is not really shutting power down to the fuel pump as it is telling the pcm the key has been turned off. and well as cut power to the components above. check those components connectors and wiring for tears, corrosion and other damage.

I have bumped all the way up to a 30 Fuse, a 20 will not last a day.

Thanks

As you may know already be careful of using Higher AMP fuses as they can cause fires, or complete meltdowns.
I wish I could help with your Problem But I agree with sun the programmer I doubt would be causing the Issue , If it is a Plug and play I would unplug it and reset to factory settings for the time being to see if that has a change It couldn't hurt .

A little more information... this morning I watched the fuel gauge go completely empty four seconds before the fuse blows... please tell me this helps! Do you guys think it could be the MSD ignition items i have on the truck?

MSD Ignition 6AL Control Module
External Single Connector Coil
(MSD Harness) <- I am going to check this ASAP!

yeh it means something is a goof with the pcm. maybe. the tank level sender goes to the pcm and the pcm drives the fuel gauge on 98-2002 vortec 350's.
