A "tranny" can distract just about anyone!
Sorry.....just couldn't help myself. Seriously though, nylon lock nuts are a waste. I'd say go down to your local speed shop or Ace and get some grade 8 bolts and nuts and torque them down to spec. Even though Edelbrock is a good brand, you can never really trust any hardward they include in kits.
