Well I don't post a lot just read all the useful info this site has. But today I went to Auto Zone to see why my check engine light kept coming on every now and then, and they said it was my EGR Valve, and that I had a misfire on cylinder 4. So I bought the EGR Valve and replaced it, and new plugs to put in. I put the valve in no problems but it got dark before I got time to put the plugs in.
I did the seafoam in the Brake Vacuum line before I went to Auto Zone, so do you think it was the seafoam that fouled one of my plugs? Or do I just need a tune up due to the high mileage 145,000?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Usually I do a full tune up around 100K miles. Cap and rotor, plugs and spark plug wires. Did you try cleaning the EGR valve before you bought the new one? What years truck?

No I didn't try cleaning it. I didn't know anything about them until after I installed it. The old one does look pretty nasty in the two holes though. And it's a 1999.

I've never heard of Sea Foam fouling the plugs but I don't know. I ran sea foam two or three times and just last month changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and TPS sensor. The plugs were not fouled from the times I sea foamed it. I would still do the tune up, unless you've done one recently. But you should also do the wires, cap, and rotor while you're at it, not just the plugs. I recommend AC Delco, I seem to have the best luck with them. Accel wires are junk, I have had problems with them in the past.

i seafoamed my 99 nbs twice and both times fouled the plugs and had to replace them! Codes went away and rough idle was gone after plug replacement!

+1!! mine never fouled, but it is a common thing to happen. If your motor is super dirty when the seafoam is working it in there, a lot of that dirty moves around and well sticks to your plugs and such. i would strongly recommend doing a tune up after it, if you know your truck was super dirty.. After the tuneups done, it will probably feel like nite and day.. You can clean your old egr if you wanted to with some carb cleaner.. Mine was bad before seafoam and i heard that they usually get killed with junk so i replaced it after seafoam :)

Oh okay, well you already have the new installed so no point in taking it back. Just go ahead and do a full tune up and you should be fine: Cap & rotor, plugs and new wires.

No seafoam in the oil, just gas tank, and vacuum line. But thanks for all the replies. I called and got an appointment for friday morning for a tune up. New plugs, wire, rotor, cap, air filter, and fuel filter and labor for $180. Very decent price in my opinion. But I'll post good news hopefully tomorrow afternoon. Thanks again!

Wow, that's really, really good, if they actually do it for that. You have it in writing, I presume?
