I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500, wanting to install a set of electric cooling fans from a 2005-2006 GM truck. I have recently upgraded to a 130 amp alternator (from the original 105 alternator), as well as installing two new batteries (both equal in capacity). Came across information that I would need, at a minimum, a 140 amp alternator to adequately power the fans. I was going to connect the fans with a BP Industry wiring harness and tune via HP Tuners. Question, can I keep the current alternator, or do I have to go bigger, and to what size? Thanks.
