Let me ask you, how much range would an electric Suburban need before you would be satisfied?

Remember with electric vehicles you always leave home on a “full tank” cause your gas station is your garage. And for road trips, do you drive 6+ hours straight without stopping to take a break? I don’t. That’s why a 400-500 mile range EV would be fine with me. But the 1000 mile range is coming too. Is that when you’d be satisfied?

At my age now, probably double the range of my truck fully loaded, so about 1000 miles. If I were younger, triple it. Around town I drive the truck about 12 hours before needing to refuel on average.

could just tow a generator

I thought about this, travel trailers redesigned with built in or spaces for generators and regulations changed to allow them to hold fuel so the travel trailer could send power to the tow vehicle to keep it going.

On a side not, I can see it now, former gas stations advertising higher octane electricity with additive to make their customers cars go faster and further and keep their motor windings cleaner! hahaha

I would love to have a Tesla. Hell, I'd possibly consider a E-Denali if they prove they can perform. EV is the future, like it or not

You’re forgetting that you don’t have a gas pump at your house.

With an EV, you do. Plug in every 4th night or so and you’re never at a gas station again.

My next work car will prob be a Tesla, will drive my current work car into the ground over the next 2-3 years.
I wasnt sure about about ev car before this one so I went with a plug in hybrid. Work was pretty unpredictable and would normally drive 100-300miles a day without notice. But now that's its steady and I know when I'll need to go further it's not so much a big deal, as simple as it seems as said earlier leaving the house everyday with a full tankis nice, no hunting cheap gas prices, the idea of never having to stop when I'm in a rush

I would like to know how the power grid will handle millions of ev cars/trucks in the next few years. Heck in the summer there are service interruptions. Just look at an outage map of NYC after 3 days above 90 degrees. Littered with no power. I think there will always be a combination of ICE and Ev’s. If they made a truck like our current ones with 500 mile range within a reasonable price I would buy in. The Hummer looks promising.

Sounds like a utility problem lol. Most charging will be done at night when business/manufacturing is down.

All the same as what happens when theres hurricanes, blizzards, natural disasters and there no gas at the pumps. Only I can have a generator at home and/or Solar panels to charge

How much actual mileage do you cover though in those 12 hours? 100 miles? I keep saying it, it doesnt use much battery to maintain a decent temp (70* ish) and play the radio. You may be able to go even longer between "fill ups"

What you will see advertised is charging speeds - 240v 480v DC etc, clean power may be more of a gimmick but there is some truth to it harmonic distortion, hertz, will make the converter charging the battery work harder and not be as efficient

No, I did not forget, but so what? If I weren't picky, there's a filling station available within moments in every direction I might wish to point the truck.

About 400 miles on average Randy.

Lots of idling on gasoline, she burns about 1.3 GPH and on Ethanol 1.75 for an average of around 175 miles and 11 hours or so. That's less than 20 gallons though, still had more on board.

The point is for around town driving you will never need to ‘fill up’ again.
