im sure that hose on the end of the gas pump goes directly into 93 octane naturally found in the ground.



i dont drive my yukon 40k miles a year, a hybrid is good for MY bottom line, sorry about your taxes.
coal isnt the only resourced used to generate power, think of all of the power necessary to refine crude oil into usable fuel, all the power needed to ship it around the country, all the gas stations that have to be powered to transfer it into your vehicle. you make a whole to do about the process but seem to get amnesia about fossil fuel fringe costs, wastes. an electric motor is more efficient than an internal combustion engine. there isnt spillage, there isnt rich conditions tanking fuel economy, there isnt motor oil to change.

it goes like this to make an electric car move:

power plant>to my house> my house to my car> it moves. if i drop some electrons on the ground no big deal

I never said gas was any better, just electric isnt as good as people make it out to be. Renewable energy is far outpaced by population. I have a nice 328 for my commuter - 35mpg and no strong electric fields frying my prostate...

Yawn.

You put out nothing meaningful to refute. Of course there is loss due to transmission but it comes nowhere close to eclipsing the massive benefits gained from the efficiencies of producing power in a centralized efficient modern plant. You also don’t mention the cost and impact of pipelines, refineries, gas stations, gas distribution via semi’s etc...not to mention endless wars and lives all to protect stable/low petroleum prices.

Is that really what you wanted? Because boy was that easy lol.

Like I said, read up on the subject and come back.

Pretty sure everyone on here loves driving, the feel of a flooring a 6.2 gets me every day. Driving an EV is no less fun, stop playing identity politics in your minds about who has a better argument and go drive one. I can’t wait to fuel up in my garage again after leasing an EV. Tesla has answered the naysayers about range anxiety. Drive ANYWHERE in the US on the supercharger network, getting 80% charge in 20 minutes. If I can’t figure out why my Denali stalls randomly I’m going straight to Chrysler for the Hybrid Pacifica as it allows my wife to drive electric for what she needs to haul the brood around. The next few years are going to be exciting to see what new EV cars are released.

Yes, let’s leave our politics at the door and focus on facts and technology. I don’t even know how this became a political issue.

GM itself is saying that EVs are the future and they are determined to be a leader in the automotive industry regardless of the fuel that’s used (period). The current view is that the fuel of the future is electrons. Who knows maybe in 40 years you’ll be able to use waste water as fuel, but for now and based on everything we know today, it’s going electric. And GM is smart and will continue to build great cars and trucks, using more and more EV motors.

GM’s “All-electric future”. Straight from the top:

CEO Mary Barra confirmed the Detroit automaker's electrification plans on a conference call with investors Tuesday following first-quarter earnings results.

"GM has an industry-leading truck franchise and industry-leading electrification capabilities. I assure you we will not cede our leadership on either front," Barra said. "We intend to create an all-electric future that includes a complete range of EVs — including full-size pickups."
