I just picked up a 04 Tahoe with 94k on the clock, everything is in great condition but there are a couple electrical quirks. One is that my dash always defaults to Driver 2. It doesn't move the seat from my Driver 1 position but dash says Driver 2, the radio and AC go to the D2 presets. Any ideas on that? I have also had a Liftgate Open msg & chime when turning a corner once when the gate was securely closed and Service Tire Monitor msg for a couple minutes one random day. I hate electrical gremlins so any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,
Nathan

The remote that you have for the truck may be the "Second Remote". When the vehicles were sold new, they came with two fobs, One and Two. Both were separate and had a chip in them that would tell the truck which driver was entering, hence telling the seat and mirrors and such what preset to go to. Position 1 and two may be programmed to the same position as 2 on the seat. The rear hatch message may be caused by a loose connection inside the gate or a connection/corrosion issue. As far as the tire monitor light, the batteries are designed to last approx 5 years. If the originals were repalced in 09, and now its 14, could be a bad battery- or one dying. I get a message sometimes that says "Service Tire Monitor" and shows one with -- for reading. Once and a while it shows 0 and throws the light on. Sucks because you cant replace the batteries in them, just have to replace the whole thing. Can get pricey if you go to the wrong place. Lots of parts stores sell them around 40 and your local Discount does as well. Then have them installed and reprogrammed. Usually comes out to around 75 each wheel.

Thank you sir. I don't know how I missed your comment until now. I will use the other FOB and see what happens. I'm willing to bet the tps are original which could throw the message. After looking a little more at the rear hatch, it will close securely but still not be fully seated so I just have to remember to shut the damn thing. I'm not new to the game, just new to the bow tie. I'm used to the many quirks of Mopar and am getting a feel for Chevy.
