In my case I had 1 existing key. There was an option to delete all keys.

that's sort of what it does when you add another key, they all have to be done together and any pre-existing key not re=programmed with them at the same time will no longer work.

I have no experience with key programming, never had to do it for anything I've owned.

The description does not make it clear if you need existing keys or not. I imagine you would though - how else could you cycle the ignition on without a key in a modern vehicle?
