Hey guys,

I've got a problem with my new to me '03 Z71 with the 5.3L Flex Fuel motor. I believe the fuel pressure regulator has gone bad and I just wanted to pass it by you folks who are more knowledgeable than I. First of all I found that gas was shooting out the seal between the fuel rail housing and the regulator. I played with the O ring placement and inserted it carefully and no leaks, but it doesn't want to start. It cranks fine, just won't catch although it acts like it wants to.

I have limited tools and I would have liked to be able to check the fuel pressure but don't have a gauge. So I ordered a new AC Delco pressure regulator last night off of Amazon (50% cheaper than local parts stores) and I'll install it Wednesday night.

So am I going down the right road with this? Anything else I can check? Oh I have checked for spark and it does have it.

Thanks for any help!

Here's some pics if it helps to look at my setup:

Have you taken any of the spark plugs out to see if they are soaked in gas? I'd be checking fuel pressure first!

Haven't looked at the plugs, but I will. I think I'm going to change my oil too in case any gas got into the oil pan. The new regulator comes today and I'll report back as to whether that fixed it. If not, I have a warranty on the truck that I'll use. Just thought I'd try to fix it myself first.

Thanks!
