Is there a way tonlook up exactly what motor is in a tahoe. I was under the assumption its a 5.3, but i was looking under hood and a sticker looks likenit says 4.8. Everything is faded really bad and I didnt get an owner's manual. Its a 2004 tahoe lt 2wd.

There are a bunch of VIN decoders online. Google search for them and they`ll tell you what engine came in your tahoe.

What if the motor was swapped out by someone for a bigger motor but visually looks like what the truck originally came with. Any visual clues to look for on the motor itself?

The 4.8 has flat top pistons, 5.3 has dished pistons. I know of no other way to tell them apart; both have 4.8/5.3 cast into the back of the block, so the pistons are the only way to tell.
