Guys,

I know that this has been discussed before, but I couldn't seem to locate it via search, so I thought I would just throw it out there.

Most times when I am backing out of my driveway and shift from R to D, the engine revs up to about 1500 before shifting into D. I'm not one of those people (my wife!) who slams it directly from R to D without letting the vehicle stop rolling backwards. Usually, I will even pause in N until the vehicle comes to a stop before shifting into D.

I have also noticed a similar situation while slowing to a stop and the tranny is downshifting on its own. The engine revs up and I can actually feel the truck working against the brakes.

Tranny in need of a software update? Re-calibration? Anyone else see this on their truck?

Thanks,

Sievz

No, no tune. My tahoe is 100% stock other than the wheels. I'm pretty sure it acted the same way before I put the wheels on too.

i would suggest you sea-foam it and clean the throttle body. i had a similar issue on my 01 Denali but wasnt 1500 rpm was just about 800 rpm. sea-foaming and cleaning the throttle body wont cost you more than 24$ so i suggest you do it before taking it to the dealer

you're actually right. it could be under 100k drivetrain warranty. did they introduce that warranty thing in 08 or 07 ?

I don't think it is actually any kind of warrantable failure. I thought I read on here somewhere before that someone had the same issue and their dealer updated the transmission with new software, but I can't seem to find that thread....

It seems to be less of an engine issue and more on the tranny end of things.

Thanks for the replies though guys.

let us know what you find out. i had a friend who said the dealership updated his ecu because of a hard shift when he came to a complete stop. his problem stopped. i had the same problem as my friend and the dealership re-greased my yoke. i have not had it since. so i dont know. from what i know they update your ECU (not transmission) which also controls your engine/reads sensors. which means it could be a bad sensor somewhere or even ECU, which i would think is under warranty. with the toyata thing going on, i would think if there was an update due to reving motors they would be all over it.

I will check when I get in the hoe next but mine does this too. I dont think it is anything to worry about, IIRC mine has done this since I have owned it
