They don't do 'base' or canned tunes. They can send you a tune that will get you up and running and then when you do a datalog session they will send you a new tune based on the data.

Right, when I got my BBP tune that's what they did for me. It was base tune, to get data from, and then update.

I'm just curious if they also have a base tune for a 5.3 to 6.2 swap because it's a popular enough upgrade; just thinking out loud.

Has anyone ever swapped on a 2009 Yukon 6.2 to a 5.3 2008 Suburban engine

They are nearly the same physically. The 6.2 has VVT and the 5.3 has AFM. So when you put the 5.3 in the '09, the computer will be looking for VVT and not AFM. A tuner can turn off the VVT stuff. They will also need to adjust the tune for the smaller injectors and of course the motor makes nearly a hundred horsepower less.

5.3 is great little motor, but it's not a 6.2 and you have the best 6.2 of them all, the L9H.

You don't have to do anything different with the drivetrain, the 5.3 will bolt right up and go with it. They use the same exhaust manifolds so it will work seamlessly with your exhaust system too.

What's wrong with the 6.2?

Ohh, do you know which 5.3 it is? LMG, LC9 or LY5? The first two are FlexFuel, one iron, the other an aluminum block. The LY5 is not flexfuel with an iron block.

It has 150,000 on it not sure what it would take to repair unfortunately you don't know if the extent of the damage until you get it apart I can look through the cylinder spark plug hole with a scope and see the ring laying on top of the piston the oil ring

The 62 dropped some piston rings on one cylinder
Were you running regular gas in it? We see this after about 100K with folks using 87 octane in their high compression engines.

Either way, fixing up the original engine would be my suggestion. What state do you call home?

We'll be glad to help you swap the LC9 in place of the L9H.
