Just heard from the builder they are swapping the stock 6.0L in my 06 Escalade tomorrow! I'll be headed up that way on Tuesday and will post some photos then. This is what we are replacing it with, along with TBSS intake and fuel injectors and Summit Racing shortie headers.

I'll do what I can for photos. It's frustrating having the build done 5 hours away. The builder is really busy. He gives me updates by text message pretty regular, but forgets to take photos. I'll be there most of next week and plan to take plenty of photos.

Sounds awesome i would also like to see some pics only thing that will suck is the premium gas prices. Were im at their at $4.40 a gallon premium that's about $115-120 to fill her up..But still worth it in my book.Im sure with lets go brandon their only going up some more.

That’s gonna be sweet when it’s done! At 10.3:1cr you could run this on 87octane just need to make sure the tuner sets up the low octane spark table correctly.

Good to know. Next week I’m meeting with the tune programmer the builder uses to discuss the tune. I’ll ask about an 87 octane setup, what effect it would have on mpg and performance. He will be doing a general tune/program for this engine and drive train and then adjust it according to my performance and efficiency goals. He then drives, collects data and fine tunes for a week or so until he has everything tuned in for best performance and efficiency combination. I’m almost as excited about the tune as I am about the engine.

You should be the engines only as good as the tune! Basically in a gen 3 ecu like your truck has there’s two different charts the computer looks at for spark advanced. The high octane table is what it uses if your running good fuel and it senses no knock. If it sense knock or lower octane fuel it reverts to the low octane table automatically and reduces spark advance to keep the engine happy. So essentially the same tune can work for low or high octane fuel. Pretty cool stuff I’d definitely ask the tuner about.

Oh don’t forget to post burnout videos when it’s all together!

What stall converter you going with and what gears do you have?
It has a 3.73 rearend. Since this will be my wife's daily driver and never be used for towing we debated going to a 3.23 or even a 3.08 for better fuel economy, but decided to wait until everything is tuned in to see what kind of mpg it makes. We discussed stall speeds in the 2k-2.5k range when the trans was rebuilt; but I left the decision to the builder and don't recall the specific stall he settled on. Below is a torque curve I found online for this engine that we referenced. I'm told the relative flatness of the torque curve allows a good deal of latitude for choosing a stall speed which suits our goal of the best combination of performance and fuel efficiency.

Transmission has no affect on what stall you need, engine combo does.
I really am interested in seeing how this swap goes driveability wise. That cam is leaned more towards a hotrod swap with power and torque coming in pretty high up the rev range. And rec port heads lose out on torque to cathedral heads down low as well.
While it will most certainly make more power than the original engine, i think it may get fewer mpgs and feel hindered by a tight truck converter in a heavy vehicle.
