Hey guys so heres the deal my 2001 yukon 5.3 with 196k on it. Is was running fine up to a month ago. I was pulling my boat a couple miles down the road and the temp creaped up to 230 when I pulled in my house. I got the boat unhooked and the temp went right back to 210 and was fine for a couple of weeks. Then one day I got home and and smelled antifreeze and I grabbed the heater hose and the plastic fitting broke. I had to bypass the heater core where I could get to work. Two weeks ago we put a set of 05 electric fans on it with a harness from brian toley that is all controlled by the computer. We got that done and I got on the highway it was 80 outside that day and it again got up to 230 for a min and went back down then went back up then was at 210 once i got off the highway. So I changed the thermostat and made sure there were no air bubbles and there wern't and that didn't help it. So I am wanting to know if anyone has seen or had this problem. It usually only does it on the highway. I am trying to sell it as I picked up a 05 Silverado today

so has new
thermostat
water pump
05 electric fans that are controlled by the computer

Is there any debris in front of the radiator and condenser? Might not let air blow through and cool the motor sufficiently. Just a thought.

It's time for a new radiator, replacement AM @ AC Delco dealer is about $115.00, problem solved, good luck.

Ok that's what I was thinking it could possibly be. I know when I drained it everything was clean but that doesn't mean that something is not wrong with it.
