I have a 2004 Tahoe with 4.8 liter engine, 8th digit Vin V, what 5.3 motor do i look for, it seems when looking through ebay they have a compatible chart and i cant seem to find a suitible motor to upgrade to, they all ask what my 8 digit is and the chart keeps saying noting is compatible. what 8th digit vin will fit in my tahoe, it seems the only difference i can tell is my 4.8 does NOT have flex fuel rails and DOES have a 24 tooth reluctor wheel. As long as the reluctor wheel is the same i can use the motor, I plan to only use the long block and nothing else, meaning all my parts should just bolt on to the new long block.

Any help is appreciated.

Swap everything on your current motor to the new motor and it will not matter. You do want to stay with a crank with the same reluctant tooth count. Having had a 5.3 i'd go to a 6.0 if you're going to do a swap anyway. Same amount of work with more reward.
