My Escalade 3rd brake light has 4 leds that will sometimes go dim when on the brake. It’s only for a second then it goes bright then goes dim kind of a slow flicker but never goes all the way out. Anyone have any luck fixing this issue? Going to take it apart later on to try and diagnose the problem but thought I would ask here first to see if someone could help out if it’s common problem

Mine only lights up on half of it. I was gonna try to separate the lens and housing to repair it but I came across this company. For $125 for a rebuilt unit doesn’t seem too bad. I might order it this weekend and I’ll report back on how it worked out.

Edit: after looking again, it appears they don’t have any rebuilt units to ship out. That means I’ll have to remove mine and ship to them for rebuild. I’m afraid of breaking the lens so it still may be worth the $ and time to have them do it. It’ll look like crap not having the third brake light for a few weeks though.

I might have to try them if I can’t fix it myself.

So After debating on sending it out for repairs or taking it apart and trying to fix it myself. I decided to do it myself but didn’t want the same old Plain led light so I ordered a 36 inch sequential led strip and control box and retro fitted it into the stock Escalade housing. I haven’t seen it done yet on an nbs style Tahoe/Yukon/escalade. I like it A lot!
