The Dupli-color med. grey is a perfect match for the plastic in our trucks. The leather is actually light Med. grey. The SEM is the paint for the leather. The leather armrest actually comes out lighter than the plastic. Once installed in the truck it looks as if it's supposed to be that way. With the one I put together for Bowtie, we had to make a custom armrest due to the center portion being missing. The upholstery guy actually had some light med. grey GM leather. It may have been sitting around for a while, as it looks too light to me, and need to be shot with some SEM. Or it may look great once installed in the truck. On the workbench it looked too light. But it always looks that way outside the truck, I panic, and then when installed looks fine. To get plastic and leather to match perfect is very hard. As far as the prep went, I used a chemical stripper because the donor console was peeling, and if you sand aggressively you will smooth out the textured plastic. If it was'nt peeling I would have just scuffed with a red scuff pad, and then prepped with denatured alcohol.
