Hello I am new to this site and new to the fullsize suv life style. I have a 2002 Caddy Escalade with the 6.0 that I just purchased not even a full 3 weeks ago. The truck will not start to save my freaking life and has left me stranded on two occasions and my wife on one occasion. The final time of leaving me stranded was yesterday while trying to leave campus to get to the hospital for my childs birth. The truck would not and still has not started since yesterday. The night before it did the same thing but after trying the 10 minute key in the on position trick (fail so i doubt it is the security system), i even took it out of park to neutral and back to park (fail), tried starting it in neutral, and drive and then park again (fail). The truck finally started and i drove it home. Yesterday I even tried switching relays and no difference, you can here the starter relay click however the starter never engages or spins. I have read on some google post that it could be a neutral safety switch but im not sure cause even when i worked as a tech i never encountered that type problem. Pease help if there is anyone that knows what will fix this problem.

Curious why u don't think its the starter itself? When they start to fail don't they work randomly? Try to start it and have someone hit the starter with a ratchet. If that turns it over then buy a new starter.

Have u checked ground wire to starter etc?

Yes when they start to go they do work randomly yet they also give you some sign of failing. This truck has not given any sign at all, however if the rain slacks up today I will remove the starter and take it to have it bench tested. Also (and I could be wrong) usually when it is the starter dont you still atleast hear the bendix try to work or the solenoid click? Im not hearing anything other than the starter relay click (i have even laid under the truck while my sister cranked it, nervous as heck cause when the truck does start after doing this it will launch forward even in park, but there was no sound and also hit on the starter while she did that.

Ok so saturday I removed the starter and checked to see if i were getting power at the switch (which I was), then I took the starter to have it checked (tested good), ok so I was confussed around that time. Reinstalled hot wire and ignition switch wire but didnt bolt it to the block, used a set of jumper cables to ground the starter to the battery and turned the key (it started). Bolted starter to the block without plastic dust shield and tried key (truck started and is running fine. I believe this whole problem was a ground issue. I am thinking of taking a ground wire and bolting it to another spot on the block and maybe starter also. Any opinions on if this?
