Esky 3rd brake light

So last week i found out the third brake light is out on the yukon. I confirmed that it is the brake light itself, so i had my parts guy call the gm dealer down the street and at my cost the light is 225$. Soooo, was thinking about saving some cash and just upgrading to the esky third brake light. Anyone now how much these go for?Do they come painted if you by new or does it have to go in for paint as well? I havnt had a chance to call the dealer for a new one yet, been busy at work thank god.

it's expensive from the dealer, check out ebay, they usually go around $150 or less for OEM Tahoe/Yukon 3rd brake light. If you're good or know someones who's good at electronics and soldering they can probably repair it. Mines was out, took it apart tested it and turns out 3 of the leds were burned out, replaced them and they all work again.

I thought you had to replace the whole back glass. I read that at one point, I would like to have the Esky brake light as well but I have the liftgate and I can only find a replacement for the barn doors

you do have to replace the glass. there are 5 holes in the esky glass for mounting the light and trim. i just did this on mine.
