So i bought a set of 00-06 running boards. need to pain the plastic ends to match.
on each one there is like a plastic dog ear bracket. really flimsy, and they all are broken.
is it worth trying to plastic weld or reinforce. or is there a reasonable source for those pieces to just use new?

I’ve seen those end pieces being sold on eBay by themselves. I would imagine they would be in good condition. But that’s to look in to I guess. Lol. I’m curious as to looking into possibly swapping my Denali running boards to esky running boards because I think they look 100x better then my denalis boards. Lol.

i think i am going to repair and hopefully improve the supports they have. but i have some work to do. I need to remove all the lower z71 moulding to mount these, and im not sure how they are going to bolt up either.
when i repair and paint, ill get some pics together.

Sweet! I’m looking forward to seeing your work! I think to make them work on my Denali, I’ll have to take the esky pieces off the ends of the board, and swap in my denalis end cap pieces. Because I think the caddy pieces might not mount up correctly to where it meets the Denali lower cladding. So I’ll be interested to see how it works on your tahoe.

First discovery. The bolts on the bottom to disassemble are likely to be froze in their clips. And most the stuff is plastic. So far plastic welding is holding better than even jb weld. Pics tomorrow

Did you take the Z71 trim off yet? I know it is hiding the mounting points for the nerf bars, wondering what you found...

havent gotten that far yet. I am expecting some surface rust bare minimum and i just didnt get to it before the temps dropped.
If i can get some inside space for a few days, i will be pulling it once the esky steps are done.

I think you'll find that the rockers don't go straight across, there's gaps where the steps mount. It looks funny. There are pics somewhere....

Do you think I should keep the z71 moulding and colormatch?
My goal is a lower profile step. But I don't want it to look like a hatchet job.

This is all from my memory, but if you search around a bit you can probably find what I'm talking about. If you're gonna CM, you'd probably take it off to do it anyways, and you could see what it looks like. Iirc, people that have removed it have realized that because of how the nerf bars are mounted, you gotta keep the trim.
