Well, I can owe this to Felix and his planting of this seed in my head but I've started tossing around the idea of getting an ESV roof rack for the Burb. To do this I'd also get ESV running boards to tie it all together which I can get for around $200 on eBay. My question is how much should I expect to spend on a good ESV roof rack? I've seen some for sale but the ones I've seen so far seem fairly pricey but maybe that's just what they're going rate is  I'm hoping someone on here can enlighten me as to how much I should plan to spend :waytogo:

$300-500, the lesser being a good deal, the higher being the typical price that someone is going to ask.

There is one on eBay right now with no reserve.

Hmm... Not sure what the price should be second-hand. New, I think you're @ $600 all in (on parts) for the rack. If the end caps are unpainted (or not the color of your truck), then you'll have to add $$$ for painting.

Also, so you know, Esky/Denali running boards with the chrome strip are EXPENSIVE too. If they're not, then you're probably not looking at the ones with the chrome strip, or the steps are pretty well beaten up. So, just make sure you're sure of the condition of the steps.

Good thing about both of these mods it that they're easy to install yourself. No need to have the dealer/a shop do it, so you'll save money on the installation part.

Yeah, I'd definitely do the install myself as I try to do the majority of the time but would most likely have a shop do the painting on the rack no matter what color it comes in.

The boards I saw on eBay for $200 (most likely sold now) were said to be take offs and in "good condition" but at the time I wasn't too serious about the purchase so I didn't look real close as if I was going to buy them but I'll definitely keep that in mind once I start the serious search for them. :waytogo:

:hmm: I'll have to get back on there and put a bid in and see what happens. :)

The denali length rack cost me about 350 total from gmpartsdirect.com. I dont think the ESV is much more. Had the caps painted at a cheap local shop for 50 bucks. Just have to dig up the part number for the ESV, a couple of searches should locate that though.

Yea that is a good deal!! I'll keep an eye out for you Jacob! I've been on the hunt for some esky/denali running boards too. Real hard to find a nice set for a good price. These two mods are gonna look great on your burb!!

Make sure when you're buying the racks and the boards that you get ALL of the necessary pieces. For the racks, there are retaining nuts that you must have. And the boards consist of a number of pieces (the chrome strip on the standard-size ones are actually TWO strips, for instance). So, just make sure you're getting something COMPLETE if you're buying second hand.

You can't use the hardware from the stock Burb rack on the ESV rack for mounting it?
