E-10 I understand has a 30 day shelf life...Been killing all kinds of 2 cycles around here and boaters must stay away. My old Corvette has a full tank of fuel and the recommended amount of Stay-Bil in it but, I understand that won't help w/ E-10. I've been running mid grade fuel, around here ethanol is only added to regular.
Shelf life = ability to suspend water in the mix, once separated you're done.
I found a few E85 stations in the Dayton, OH area. At the time, it was $.50 cheaper than gasoline. I tried it, and got about 1-2 highway miles less per gallon during out trip back home. Still, I'd rather give my money to our farmers if the ethanol is really coming from US agriculture.
My 2007 is a flex fuel model and like I said, I saw 1-2 MPG less while running it.
The lower milesage is all about energy per gallon:
Gasoline: 114,000 BTU/gallon
E85: 81,800 BTU/gallon
Diesel: 129,500 BTU/gallon Mmmmm....diesel.......
