Looking for advice on how to replace the exhaust manifold gaskets. I bought a 2005 Chevy Tahoe LT 5.3 in Nov of 2015. At the time I didn't notice a slight exhaust leak. This past week it has been noticeable more. I looked at both manifolds and the last bolt on each side is broken off at the head. I was thinking about using the Dorman solution to clamp it back together but I would rather permanently fix it the right way. Any suggestions on how to tackle it? Welding a nut onto the stud seems like the best way to go about it. Not to confident using a screw extractor. Those things bust off all the time for me. BTW, my local shop said they would do the job for $600 a side. Seems rather outrageous but I think that quote it more or less to cover themselves if the head needs to be removed. Let me know, thanks.
