Received an email that GM extended warranties are going up 30% on April 7. Does anyone else hear the same thing? Does this happen every year?

That's a chunk of change there too. I wonder if that's a result of the new tariffs since most replacement parts are imported.

That’s what I was thinking perhaps. Googling it I found past years had the same thing. I do know in 2023 till now the price hasn’t gone up that much

Please remember all extended warranties are negotiable, dealers have a big profit margin on these

What was the origin of the email?

I bought a new 2024 Tahoe Premier 4wd on 12/30/2024. In January, I bought an 84 month / 100,000 mile GMPP from the same dealership.

At the same dealer - my wife ordered a 2025 Equinox RS AWD in January, and the vehicle was built and we took delivery in March. The dealership said the GMPP rates were raised in March by GM (not the dealership).

I got quotes on the same GMPP (platinum - no deductible) for the Equinox from the same dealership yesterday. The sales person said the rates are good for at least 90 days, but usually only go up yearly.

The cost of the same GMPP was slightly less than the Tahoe.

Also note that GM does not sell extended warranties, but rather service plans (which are backed by an insurance company). The cost of the plans are negotiable, as there is a considerable markup on them by the dealership.

Been shopping Knapp, when I received quotes, email said price increases coming on May 1.
Quoted $1766 for 36 months/36,000 platinum, 0 ded, for 22 Yukon still under factory warranty.
Any feedback on price?

@dancastro ouch… that to much for something that mirrors manufacturers warranty (all you are getting is rental car coverage)
Depending on on how many miles are currently on ur vehicle (under 12k or under 36k), 36/60 should be around $1000
