After many hours searching the forums I understand the pink wire from the secondary harness needs to be attached to the blue remote turn on wire. My question is how has anyone done this without cutting/damaging the stock harness? I want to be able to put the stock stereo back in if need be. Thanks!

yes ive delt with this there is a pinkish creamish wire (factory amp remote wire) on the factory harness wich lines up with the power ant on the after market harness just wire the power ant wire from the deck to the one on the aftermarket harness you shouldnt have to mess with anywires in the factory harness

OK I get what your saying but I've read in several other threads that the pink wire from the flat 9 pin harness needs to be spliced with the remote wire. Are you saying the main factory harness is the one with the amp signal?

NO nothing on the factory harness has to be touched when i first installed my new deck before installed aftermarket amps and stuff
when you wireing the aftermarket harness (Metra 70-1858 i think scoche makes one to)
up with the deck just make sure you connect the power antenna wire you dont have do anything else
the power ant wire connects directly to that pink wire that is the factory amp remote wire you do not need to splice into the factory harness weather you have an LS with no bose and no on star or if you have bose with onstar (the only difference is the BOSE logo anyways)
what model and year tahoe or yukon do you have

01 Yukon SLT non bose, factory sub. I don't care about the onstar, I plan on replacing that with a delete panel to make room for some switches. I've installed my own stereos in my cars for the last 12 years, but I've never had to hook up one in an SUV. Last time I installed a deck in a car with a factory amp (02 eclipse) I fried it and had to run a bypass harness half way across the car. Just making sure that doesn't happen again. Thanks for the help!

The other question I had is since I'm using the remote wire for the factory amp, can I use the Orange illumination wire for a remote wire for my subs amp? Will it do the same as the blue wire?

no. You are using the power antenna wire for the factory amp. use the remote turn on wire for your subs.

I only have a remote amp wire. From the head unit harness I have yellow battery constant, red 12v+, black ground, blue remote turn on, orange illumination (going to be unused) and the violet, green, gray and white speaker wires. This is why I asked if I could use the Orange illumination wire. I've had harness' before that also had a blue with white stripe. I'm assuming that's the one your talking about.

okay there is a seperate remote wire in the aftermarket harness that you are going to use for your sub amp the power ant wire is whats acting as a remote wire for the factory amp

what i would do if i were you is just replace yer door speakers and wire them directly into you aftermarket deck the amp in the deck is probably alot better then that POS factory amp in the tahoe

Would it be better to run a bypass to the output harness side of the amp or just run new wires to the doors?
