1996 Tahoe, has the 8 speaker system. Person that had it before me put in an Alpine CD player and hooked up a couple 10s. Yesterday the factory speakers started cutting in and out as I was hitting a few bumps in the road, and then quit all together. I pulled the head unit out, connections are good. To me it sounds like something is losing connection somewhere, just not sure what......

Any ideas?

When I first turn on the radio, I can hear a relay or something up under the dash. I am off work this weekend so I am going to tear into it and see whats up. Pink relay wire....I will check that, but it is losing a connection of some type. I just hope its something simple!! Thanks for the info.

well, pink remote wire seems good, all speaker connections are good, I am going to try hooking up an extra ground wire, just in case the factory ground is the problem. It has an aftermarket CD player in it, and all factory speakers have been upgraded. But its still working when it wants to and goes on and off with bumps in the road. Something is loose....SOMEWHERE....but where? I hate electrical problems!!

Extra ground did not help. I am now officially clueless!!

All fuses are in and good. I also took the CD player out of my Grand Prix (same wiring harness) and it does the same thing, so that rules out the radio itself being bad. Its in the factory wiring somewhere. I have pulled all 8 speakers out, all connections secure. I am beginning to suspect a loose connection INSIDE the factory amp. Its got to be somewhere that has slight movement, to go on and off when you hit a bump.
