thanks! so that does the video and audio? or just the audio? i am not super famillar with the stereo stuff these days, my main goal is just getting the sound through the system, although video and sound wouldn't be bad either

ok, ive read it about 3 times, and i think im getting it, sorry im a little slow at this.

Yes, your missing something. IF your OE radio was the source of activating RSE (by hitting the source button) you can use this harness. If activation was somewhere else like the rear controls, then no you can't

Meta GMOS-014 - GM Onstar/ RSE/ and retain the warning chimes module

The GMOS-014 is designed to retain Onstar/ Rear seat entertainment (RSE)/ and retain the warning chimes that are normally lost when the OEM radio is removed. It also provides a 12 volt accessory output for aftermarket radio operation.
The GMOS-014 provides a mute/ parking brake/ vss or speed sense and reverse output to make installing an aftermarket navigation radio simpler and less time consuming.

i read the description online, my truck originally had the navigation radio, so to get the sound from the dvd player over the radio speakers there was a button for it,(had a cd on it) is that consided activating the RSE from stock head unit? as the truck also has a control in the center console that lets you change the source for the headphone jacks.

to me it sounds like this GMOS-014 should work for my application,

For your factory radio, you had a button you could hit to switch directly to RSE... but could you also hit the source button and scroll through your sources until you got to (or heard) the RSE? If so, then yes... and it's the most likely choice as well
