yes another thread. i have kind of a specific question though that i couldnt find any info about. the truck is an 01 tahoe LT with non bose factory everything. if i replaced the sub with a better aftermarket one while leaving the factory amp, would it be any louder at all? kicker makes a nice shallow mount i was thinking about getting. i am not looking for big boom. i grew out of it. i just want to complete the sound and get a little bump. but more just to round everything out. the problem i am having is i cant hear any base until i crank the stereo. that stock woofer is really week. or should i pick up a cheap little 100-150 watt amp to hide in there with it? the problem would be finding one that will fit. then i have to get a converter box so i can use the harness from the stock amp for RCAs and remote. i rather not though since i want to stay away from running any wiring.

Youd have to find the specs on the factory amp and somewhat match them to a sub. My guess is that the factory one is pretty weak and wouldn't be worth messing with really. Also its not a good idea to run too weak of an amp on a sub cause that can make it go bad prematurely as well as over powering it.

I just trashed all mine for a ZX1000.1 and 2 12" CVR's though lol

ya i kinda figured that. i guess i need to pull the panel off and see what kind of room i have to work with and look for an amp aswell. i really dont want to mount a boxt anywhere. i want a stock look with a completed sound. i am happy enough with the rest of the stereo for now. the only other thing i might do later is door speakers and a stereo. are the non bose stereos amped besides the sub? if so i would bypass it and run new speaker wire though.

the Kicker CVT will fit in there nicely. If you can add a small 200-300 watt amp, even better. :)

does the kicker actually drop in the factory sub opening? the factory sub in my '01 has 'ears' where the screws go in to mount it, and the opening in the factory box is recessed. i bought a kenwood 8" and havent been able to figure out how to make it work without modifying something yet.
