I got the panel off fine and found the plug and disconnected it, now music sounds a lot better, thanks for your helpIs your box behind the driver's side rear? If so, remove that panel and there should be a plug coming in from the wiring harness underneath to the box that you could disconnect the sub from the rest of the system. Or remove the sub totally as there will be 2 spade connectors inside the box to the subwoofer directly. If you haven't removed that panel before, there are 3 screws you need to take out before you start pulling. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Seems like a good price compared to others, but is it an exact fit or do I need to do sone trimming?
Yeah man. Happy to help. Now just order this sub to replace your blown OEM one and you are back in business.
Kicker 40CWS82
Ok, thanks for the helpI was looking for the thread, but can't seem to locate it. That Kicker gets good reviews on fitment. Depth maximum for mounting in the box is about 4 inches. Probably will not line up the holes exactly and guys just drilled it into the box where the existing subwoofer holes were. The sub should cover the box holes or you can silicone over them.
There is this JL 8 inch with mounting depth of 3 7/8 but more $$ and it is 4 ohm, whereas the Kicker is 2 ohm.

Should not need to trim anything with regards to the box, based on what has been relayed online.
I thought the factory sub was in the center console and the speaker grill in the back was fake?
