My '07 Escalade is in mint condition except the black plastic window trim around all 4 side windows has suddenly started to fade and chip. The dealer wants $2K for 4 new trim pieces installed. I can buy from Rippy Cadillac direct for $850.

My question is has anyone changed these themselves? If so, how was it? Any videos or instructions online for this work? I prefer to do the work myself.

Has anyone found a way to revive or cover them(special paint, etc.)?

Thanks,
Todd

Mine on my mint 10 Escalade just started. Only the rear passanger one. But one thing if you think about it buying replacement ones and down the road again you will run into the same issue. You can try to do vinyl or paint. I am not sure what I am going to do at the moment either. But that is just something to think about with getting replacements.

First, it's funny to see the difference between the upitty caddy forum and here. Say 3m, vinyl, or anything other than full on replace, they all turn their noses up like their fable creature is too good for DIY fixes.

I'd personally vinyl the darn things. Nobody but you will know if done right. As Galaxy stated 3-4 years from now you will likely be doing the same 850 order all over again if your still in the vehicle.

I'm wondering how hard they are to replace? I won't have mine in 3 years. I just moved to Dallas and don't know many of the good body shops yet. I guess I could stop by a few to get prices on painting them all gloss black.

Thanks,
Todd
