I just purchased a used 2009 Tahoe LT. It has 33k on it so I still have a little time left under warranty. I have noticed that when i turn it on the engine fan runs full blast for several minutes. Is this normal or something I should have checked out?

mbh6333,

I agree with the other user that this issue sounds normal. However, if you feel that it is becoming an issue, I encourage you to go to your dealership for a diagnosis.

Thank you

are you talking about when you remote start it? its explained in the owners manual. It sounds like you have it in auto mode. Also with remote starting, depending on the temp it will automatically turn the heat on or ac on for you

I just assumed that the ridiculous loud fan was due to heat...I noticed that on days when it is 80 degrees+, my tahoe's fan (somewhere?) will kick on after it has been off for like 10-15 minutes. It runs for about 5-10 minutes, then stops. Again, I figured it was due to heat...if not...somebody want to clue me in?

on hot days, fans will kick on/off...thats normal as well. When a truck is moving, air is bing pushed across the radiator to dissipate heat...when sitting, the fans do that job of either pushing or pulling air across the radiator.
( depends on vehicle and setup where fans are mounted)

I haven't noticed on my Yukon Denali. I had a Trailblazer with the 5.3 once and it howled for a few minutes after start up. Fan clutch was bad.
