Just recently i noticed on my 01 Tahoe, that fan controller speed #1 doesn't work, but 2-5 works fine. I tried changing the switch but that wasn't the problem.

Any ideas what it could be?

TIA

Replaced the blower motor resistor yesterday and that was indeed the problem. I would also suggest while changing that to also change the cabin air filters. Mine were gross. The filters only cost about $11 on amazon

And I've always gotten my blower motor resistors from the salvage yard. Replaced the one on my 98 Aurora last year, $115 from the local parts stores, not much cheaper on-line. Not sure what the truck version of this part costs new.

One hour of my time at the salvage yard and $7 was what I needed to restore my blower motor control. Best of all, guaranteed to work or I could swap it for another. Nothing really to lose.

Unless you want to change that resistor again in 6 months replace your blower motor as well.

AND...unless you want your blower motor to sound like a jet engine, buy a factory Acdelco part.
